1-ORGANIZATIONAL/INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
To conduct a diagnostic of risks, needs and services; to provide services such as staff training, or workshops for children and adults; to fund a full time Violence Prevention Peace Promotion Coordinator.
2-NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIPS
To work with an anchor organization to organize neighborhood schools, health care providers, community service providers (all stakeholders) and government providers into a partnership that discusses, adopts and pursues 5-10 year indicators of well being for the neighborhood/community.
3-COMMUNITY AREA PARTNERSHIPS
Building upon the organizational and neighborhood partnerships, to create a Community Area Partnership (South Lawndale, North Lawndale, Brighton Park and Archer Heights) to insure that every family, every school and every neighborhood within the Community Area achieves well being indicators that are comparable to city and state measures within 5-10 years.
4-CITY PARTNERSHIP: BUILD THE PEACE COALITION
This is an annual event around the time of World Peace Day, at the time of the opening of the United Nations General Assembly (third Tuesday of September). It is held in Daley Plaza. In 2001 the event was cosponsored by the Chicago Department of Special Events, Chicago Commission on Human Relations, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, The Peace School, and others. In 2002 we will build a city wide coalition and plan a one day conference on "Proven and Promising Programs to Build the Peace in Families and Schools."
VISION
That every child in North Lawndale, South Lawndale, Brighton Park and Archer Heights wakes up every morning with the same reality of well being and the same opportunities for achievement as any child in Chicago or Illinois.
